Nishnawbe homes provides safe secure housing for the Native homeless and
underhoused in Toronto. The housing units encourage cultural values, community
environment, and a drug and alcohol-free environment.
Our Mission Statement - It is the purpose of Nishnawbe Homes Inc. to provide an
adequate supply of safe, secure housing for the Native homeless and under-housed
in Toronto and to do so in concert with similar organizations throughout North
America. We work toward a housing situation that develops equity for both the
corporation and residents. It is also our purpose to develop within the housing
units, a strong sense of community and support in the context of Native cultural
values, and that encourages an environment that is alcohol and drug free.
Our Vision - It is our vision to provide a housing environment that is socially
supportive and ecologically beneficial to all life. It is our vision that we will move
to new levels of community self-determination in acquiring housing and in
financing and maintaining properties and operations. It is our vision that we will
become accomplished and self-directed in identifying and meeting special need
within the community. It is our vision that the Nishnawbe Homes community will
develop a program for public relations and awareness of our services and vision.
