About Our Simulator-Based Training Program

Our Mission: To empower Indigenous community members with the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to become safe, responsible drivers while honoring our cultural values and supporting individual growth within our community.

What We Offer

  • Drop-in simulator driving practice sessions (no on-road instruction)
  • Written knowledge prep using study materials and mock quizzes
  • Non-licensing skills assessments and feedback on the simulator
  • Vehicle safety basics and pre-trip concepts (classroom/simulator)
  • Guidance for licence application process (off-site with DriveTest/MTO)
  • Follow-up supports and culturally-safe learning resources

Learning Modules & Resources

Module 1: Traffic Signs & Signals

Learn to identify and understand road signs, traffic lights, and pavement markings.

Example: What does a yellow diamond-shaped sign indicate?

Module 2: Rules of the Road

Master right-of-way rules, speed limits, and safe driving practices.

Example: When must you yield the right-of-way at an intersection?

Module 3: Safe Driving Techniques

Develop defensive driving skills and hazard recognition abilities.

Example: What is the recommended following distance in good weather?

Module 4: Vehicle Operation

Understanding vehicle controls, maintenance, and pre-trip inspections.

Example: What should you check before starting your vehicle?

  • ALFDC provides simulator-based and virtual learning experiences only. No on-road instruction is provided on site.
  • ALFDC is not an official driver education provider and is not a DriveTest/MTO testing centre.
  • Participation does not result in a driver’s licence, certification, or course credit with MTO.
  • For official licensing and road tests, please book with DriveTest through the Government of Ontario.
