Project Sponsor:  Council Fire – Drop-In Services

Description:
1. Council Fire proposes to offer a 7 day a week drop in for people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. Services include provision of meals, a food and clothing bank, a legal clinic, literacy programme, Aboriginal healing programmes and support for individuals and families to find and maintain temporary and permanent housing.
2. Provide housing intake and referrals, seeking out financial assistance for clients (Rent bank – a program offered through the City).  They will work with clients, who are currently housed to maintain  it  by  offering  supports (home visits, referrals to community supports).  Front line workers will liaison with other housing workers and participate in case conferences when necessary.
They will evaluate project through feedback and forums (forms). They will collect information such as status of residency, streets to shelters, and shelters to transitional housing to supportive housing.
3. Positions requested: full time coordinator, drop in support worker, community client support worker, food services worker.

Project Sponsor:  Council Fire – Project HPS – Capital Project

Description: This is a capital project that includes renovations such as: ceiling replacement, wiring replacements, emergency lighting replacements, installation of energy efficient lights, sound proofing of ceiling, stairwell repair, new flooring and shelving, bulletin boards, walkin cooler and refrigerator with shelving, kitchen equipment, window replacements, insulation, chairs, maintenance supplies, van purchase. As stated above, Council Fire’s programs service homeless and at-risk with drop-in services such as two daily meals, food bank, life-skills training and other services.
